The meeting objective was to involve the environmental Civil Society Organizations from the EPPA beneficiaries into the ongoing policy debate about new environmental priorities arising from the European Green Deal and enlargement process as well as inform and consult the participants about the EPPA activities.
The meeting was chaired by the representatives of the European Commission: Ms. Madalina Ivanica and Ms. Guillemette Vachey. Ms. Tanja Hafner Ademi – Teal Leader of an ongoing, EU-funded project “Technical Assistance to Civil Society Organisations (EU TACSO 3) in the Western Balkans and Turkey”, shared information about the project with emphasis on how it can be useful to attending organizations. Mr. Mihail Dimovski, EPPA Team Leader, gave presentation on EPPA activities towards alignment with the European Green Deal. The participants of the meeting could also benefit from presentations gave by the representatives of The European Environmental Bureau and The Nature Conservancy – Ms. Patrizia Heidegger and Mr. Henrik Osterblad respectively, who shared their experiences on how to approach environmental issues and how to communicate and work with the EC.
Discussion sessions were an important part of the event and they were conducted with a great involvement of CSO representatives. Overall 24 CSOs took part in the event, representing all EPPA beneficiary countries. Participants could share their views on the European Green Deal and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans as well as discuss and identify possible future activities at regional and national level covering following components: air quality and industrial emissions, waste management, resource efficiency and circular economy, nature and water management.
