The TAIEX EPPA Sub-regional Virtual Workshops on Creating Integrated Waste Management Systems, took place on 12th of May and 2nd of June and were conducted via an online platform.

Sub-regional Virtual Workshops on Creating Integrated Waste Management Systems

The beneficiary countries of two corresponding workshops were:

  • Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia (12th May),
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey (2nd June)

The workshops were a multi-stakeholder events that brought together experts in the field of extended producer responsibility from governments (ministries and local governments), NGOs, international organisations and related institutions.

The workshops have been divided into three sessions focusing on different aspects of Creating Sustainable Integrated Waste Management Systems (IWMS) in the EPPA Beneficiaries. The purpose of the workshops concentrated on defining the Integrated Solid Waste Management System and assessing the opportunities and challenges for implementing effective ISWM systems. The important part of the meetings was sharing the EU experience on designing and implementation of ISWM systems. The participants could benefit from presentations delivered by the representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Croatia; European Environment Agency, as well as by the experts from Environment Agency, Austria.
